NEXT STEPS IN FAITH

YOUR GUIDE TO SPIRITUAL GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

Purpose

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

The “Next Steps in Faith” is an outline of guided steps to ensure your spiritual growth and development in Christ. Being added to the body of Christ is just the beginning. Jesus tells us to, “Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life (Revelations 2:10).” The steps listed below create an action plan designed to help us keep the covenants we made at baptism.

Next Steps

Step 1. Care Group
When you are added to the body of Christ you will be assigned to a Care Group. The Care Group is composed of brothers and sisters in Christ in your area of residence who make sure every person is supported and cared for at all times. Care Group leaders encourage us to pray for one another, and to meet each other's needs in practical ways.

Step 2. Foundations of Faith
Foundations of Faith is a course created to serve Christians who are eager to learn and grow in their faith. Understanding the fundamental beliefs of Christianity is an important part of following Jesus, and our hope is that this video series will serve as a helpful first step in your lifelong journey of faith. The course is delivered via Google Classroom. Each video includes a lesson study guide.

Step 3. Discipleship Partner
A discipleship partner is another man or woman in Christ who is committed to meeting regularly to study the gospel. We want to get into the Word until the Word gets into us. The discipleship partner establishes honesty, confidentiality, and trust. This relationship provides a safe place to be open about your struggles, weaknesses, and any other issues hindering your development. Through this you have a place where you will be challenged to grow, be held accountable, and set reasonable spiritual goals.

Step 4. Maturity Growth Classes
Online and In-Person Bible Classes for personal growth are available to serve Christians who are eager to learn and grow in their faith. Understanding the path to maturity of beliefs in Christianity are an important part of following Jesus. Our hope is that these video series will serve as a helpful next step in your lifelong journey of faith. The course is delivered through the World Video Bible School Classroom. Each video includes a multitude of bible lessons for all ages and some may include a study guide.

Step 5. Spiritual Gift
In your walk with Christ, it is important to know, understand, and develop your spiritual gift. Identifying these unique gifts can be the starting point to understanding God's purpose for your life so you can glorify Him in the most fruitful way. It will also help you determine practical ways to walk in the Spirit and live a Christ-filled life.

Step 6. Ministry
Now that you know your spiritual gift it’s time to serve. Being of service in the church is critical to your growth and development. East Baltimore Church of Christ has many ministries and programs designed to build and strengthen your walk with Christ, and your relationship with others. Take the spiritual gifts assessment and get involved with a ministry in alignment with your gift!

Step 7. Area Leader
The final area of development is Area Leader training. This training program supports the evolution of spiritual growth and development through guided leadership opportunities. The Area Leader role exists to grow healthy, friendly, and vibrant programs within the church. As Area Leader you will identify, train, support, and encourage other members. The competencies you have developed throughout your journey in Christ will further support your work as an Area Leader.
